About Nick.
Nick first played for Essex CCC at the age of 8, moving through all age groups before making his 2nd eleven debut in the Summer of 2007. In 2012 Nick scored over 1000 runs in the 2nd XL, resulting in a first team debut vs Worcestershire in 2013. The following season Nick recorded his maiden first class 50 with his maiden first class ton coming the following week vs Derbyshire at Chesterfield. Nick was unbeaten on 132, the highest score ever made by an opener carrying his bat. In the second innings he scored 100* to become the first Essex player since Ravi Bopara to score a century in both innings. He spent every minute of the fixture on the field!
In 2017 it was more records for Nick, alongside Sir Alistair Cook the pair put on 373 for the opening stand vs Middlesex, an all-time Essex ccc record. Nick finally fell for 221 with Cook finishing on 193.
Browney found his love for the game at a very young age. Being bought into the world by an already cricket mad family who had a rich history of playing for their local side, South Woodford. It was ‘South’ where Nick began his journey and played for them for many years and still to this day holds a membership and great love for the club.
In July 2015, Browne was awarded his county cap, in the same season he was the first Essex player to pass 1000 first class runs in a season since 2008.
Nick has continued to flourish for Essex CCC, being a key part of the title winning force over his 12-year professional career, representing the county 185 times, scoring over 8000 runs across all 3 formats with a FC average on 36.00. This includes 20 FC hundreds and 32 fifty’s.
